In 2011, the Michiana Event Center hosted the annual “Northern Indiana Woodcrafters Association.” Aisle after aisle was filled with the finest Amish furnishings available. Visitors marveling at the sheer size of the wall entertainment centers before being enthralled by the “magic” of a touch lighting system in a beautiful dining hutch. Only a first-hand encounter with Amish furniture will teach you what any furniture lover knows: “There is nothing like Amish furniture.”

Fortunately, living in Indianapolis made the trip to the Michiana Event Center possible, but for those looking for an Amish market in Wisconsin or Detriot Amish furniture, you may be thinking you’re out of luck. However, recent statistics have shown that the Amish are not only increasing their numbers annually, but are moving Westward and beginning new communities. Of the many remarkable characteristics of the Amish, perhaps the most striking is their ability to not only survive harsh economic conditions without government assistance, but to thrive in spite of hardship. Amazingly, the Amish population grows at an average of 5% annually (according to the Young Center at Elizabethtown College) and more Amish are moving West in search of affordable land.
