In the past decade, “Lyptus” has become an increasingly popular choice for flooring, cabinetry and furniture craftsmanship, yet many are unsure what exactly Lyptus is.
Lyptus is a hybrid blend of two Eucalyptus trees grown in Brazil. The Eucalyptus tree grows incredibly fast (14-16 years from planting to harvest) resulting in forests that are exponentially more productive than the typical temperate forest. Furthermore, an “ecofriendly” growing process not only avoids the problem of deforestation so common in Brazil, but helps to restore and repopulate the ravaged forest ecosystem.
In addition to the availability and sustainability of Lyptus wood, its beauty is an a compelling factor that contributes to its growing popularity. Lyptus is similar to Cherry and Mahogany in appearance, but with an exotic flair. An easily workable quality allows this wood to be used for a number of home situations, from flooring to cabinetry and furniture.
